1:1 ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a research based intervention strategy with the goal to teach functional skills, decrease challenging behaviors, and bring about meaningful and positive change.

What does applied behavior analysis look like?

1:1 ABA therapy starts with a phone call with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to learn more about your family and your goals and concerns. Next the BCBA would observe the child to decide which assessment fits your child's needs. During our time together, we will be utilizing research based assessments such as: VBMAPP, ABLLS, AFLS, and PEAK. We also observe the child in the home completing every day tasks, such as the dinner time routine.

The results of the assessments and observations are then written up and discussed with the family during the parent meeting. Our BCBA will collaborate with the parents and develop an individual treatment plan which discusses your child's goals and a timeline for completing those goals. We will also discuss parent goals and involvement, a behavior plan addressing any maladaptive or challenging behavior, as well as the amount of treatment hours recommended.

Once the treatment plan is completed, the behavior therapist will come to your home and work on building a therapeutic relationship  and the goals laid out in the individualized treatment plan. We utilize a variety of teaching procedures depending on your child's learning profile and needs.

The BCBA will come to your home for both parent coaching and to supervise the behavior therapist and the programs. As programs and goals are mastered, new ones are written and added until the BCBA and the family feel that the child has met their goals.
